Watertower Project

Project: The Water Tower Kiosk is an Architectural League of New York Folly/Function competition entry for the benefit of Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City, NY. Our visit to the park revealed the eclectic nature of the exhibited objects which inspired us to add to this spirit. The ubiquitous New York water tower is an iconic and appropriate metaphoric symbol for this project. Thus we have based our kiosk design on an actual water tower components magnanimously donated by Isseks Brothers Inc. to the brief’s dimensions using recycled timber staves delivered and assembled on site. The budget of $12,000 will be readily realized owing to the donation and ease of assembly mainly by ourselves.
We believe it would have been a whimsically appropriate solution to the functional and cultural content outlined in the brief for the park.
